New Licensing Capabilities Strengthen Wealth Planning Options for Bahamian Clients

Founded in 1991, our Bahamas office is licensed to provide a full range of corporate, trust and foundation services. The team has traditionally served international clients, but is now licensed to provide services to private clients holding assets in Bahamian dollars, meaning it can offer the benefits of its deep experience and specialist skills to the local market.

Mary Rodland, Managing Director of our Bahamas office, shared her insights on what this means for domestic clients and how our long-standing team is preparing to support them.

Trident Bahamas has traditionally focused on international clients. With this new license, what opportunities do you foresee for wealth and asset management within the domestic Bahamian market?

Mary: We have a long-standing history of serving international clients to support their wealth management and estate planning needs. With the upgrade of our license, we see a significant opportunity to expand our reach and impact within the domestic market. One of the key factors driving this expansion is the recognition that estate planning is not only for the ultra-wealthy. It is about ensuring individuals have a clear plan for their assets and financial responsibilities in the event of incapacity or death. These concerns are universal and increasingly relevant to a broader demographic, including individual domestic clients and pension fund participants.

What sets Trident’s approach apart for domestic clients seeking solutions to help them manage their assets and protect their wealth?

Mary: Our client service commitment: responsiveness, reliability, attention to detail and personal service is grounded in our expertise and genuine care. While our roots are in international wealth management, we will bring the same rigor and sophistication to domestic clients, enhanced by our understanding of local regulations and cultural nuances.

How is your team preparing to ensure a seamless and personalised onboarding experience for domestic clients?

Mary: We are taking a proactive, client-centered approach that reflects our expertise and our commitment to personal service. Our goal is to build effective, long-term relationships and ensure every client feels supported from the very first interaction.

What excites you most about what this new capability can bring?

Mary: What excites us most is the opportunity this milestone creates to serve a broader spectrum of clients with the same level of excellence and care that has defined our service to our international clients. Our goal is to enhance our offering for domestic clients by helping them plan for the future and protect their life-long earnings, so they can pass them on to the next generation.
